Sam and Louise are the kind of girls you wish were your roommates. They met at a streetwear event and now share an enviable closet. Louise combs thrift stores for tees and holds tie-dye parties. Sam a.k.a. DJ SOSUPERSAM shares her love for music through so super mixtapes, and has an inextinguishable passion for the Lakers even though she's slowly falling in love with NY. Both are influenced by menswear, but express their inspiration in radically different styles.
I’m a southern belle transplant loving my life in NY. I love to eat and travel. You’ll probably find snacks in my glove compartment and jacket pockets. I don’t take fashion too seriously and always try to have fun with it. And for the past couple of years I’ve been pushing footwear and apparel into your favorite stores.
During high school and college I had a number of odd jobs but always gravitated towards retail jobs. As I grew in retail, my appetite for fashion grew as well. I have always had boyish style sensibilities and grew up thrifting for tees and collecting sneakers. I still love thrifting and still collect shoes but my boyish style has matured to a love for menswear – AND ladylike attire. I’m a lady now, hello!
I’ve been channeling grumpy-old-lumberjack in these cold temps with multiple layers of oversized mens clothing. I’m trying to change that. My latest inspiration would be staying warm while looking cute, and not like a woodsman. Yes, we’ll go with that.
At this very second, I love Trader Joe’s because of my well-stocked fridge. I also fell in love with getting tea wafted in my face while shopping for teas at Teavana, I could spend all day there. My favorite clothing stores at the moment are Madewell, Chocoolate (HK), USA Thrift, and Opening Ceremony.
Instagram (and nerding out on other social media platforms), cooking, traveling, and obsessing over my french bulldog, Lola.
When the cold weather hit, I fled to the Philippines and Hong Kong for a month. I spent my time relaxing and figuring out my next moves for 2012. I’m back from my “sabbatical” with a new checklist and ready for some adventures. First thing’s first, I would like to find a new gig that will marry my interests and skills…this will allow me to check more things off my list. On another note, I shopped for leathers during my trip to make my own bag – can’t wait for it to come to life!
I’m a DJ and a fashion publicist in Brooklyn, by way of Los Angeles.
I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy, and I think that my personal style has always been derivative of that. Five years ago I was heavily into sneakers and streetwear. Over time my style has softened and prepped up a bit. I’ve traded in a lot of my kicks for heels, but it is still heavily influenced by menswear. After a huge closet haul two years ago, I became more discerning about timelessness and quality, and adopted the mantra “buy less, buy better.” I threw out a bunch of cheapy, ephemerally trendy pieces, and started to build a wardrobe of solid classics. I think I’m almost there!
New York City. I moved here a month ago, and it has challenged me (in a fun way!) to be creative with the pieces I have. Layering, packing a handbag efficiently, heavy fabrics, and snow shoes are all things that I now think about when getting dressed in the morning. I never had to think about things like thinsulate and Uniqlo Heattech before moving here. Because of the climate, I’ll find myself combining my existing pieces in new ways. Finding ways to look cute without freezing my toes off has inspired me to look at my wardrobe in a different way. I kind of love it!

Music music music. And I also enjoy putzing around my kitchen for 10 minutes looking for something to cook, then going out to eat. Making dinner reservations is one of my greatest life skills. Fromage and charcuterie boards, I also enjoy.
I want to focus on producing music. I also want to learn how to cook and not be such a hazard in the kitchen. Come over next time, and I’ll know how to make you an edible casserole or something!
