Fashion must be in the blood for Dylana and Natalie, who are both sisters and well-known bloggers. Not only do they live together, but they currently work at Volcom as a social media coordinator, and model, respectively. They may share the same genes and work place but both have their own unique fashion statement.

Dylana Suarez

Where are you from?

I am from the valley area of Los Angeles, CA

What do you do?

I am a fashion blogger, free-lance writer, and the social media coordinator for Volcom Girls.

How’d you get into fashion?

I’ve been into fashion ever since I could walk. My mom was a really fashionable person, so I guess her love for clothes rubbed off on me. When I was little I loved to style up my Barbie dolls and draw my own fashion designs. Reading all the fashion magazines at such a young age also made me a lot more interested in the industry. Fashion has always been something that drew my curiosity, and I always wanted to stand out when it came to what I wear.

Latest inspiration?

My latest inspirations are bright colors, nature, New York City, Stockholm, and Paris streetstyle, my fellow fashion bloggers, and Audrey Hepburn. I am also very much inspired by girls like Rachel Bilson, Kate Bosworth, Alexa Chung, and Lou Doillon.

Favorite stores/brands/companies?

The top places that I shop at are H&M, Zara, Forever 21, Free People, and Urban Outfitters. If I had unlimited funds, I’d definitely also be shopping the designer boutiques and buying Chanel and Celine! hehe. I also do a lot of thrift and vintage shopping. My style is a mix of both modern and retro, so I like to wear the best of both worlds.

What else do you enjoy besides fashion?

I really enjoy creative writing, poetry, and reading American literature. I also love to dance, sing, and play the piano and the guitar. Another thing I love to do is travel. I’ve been to Southeast Asia but now I dream of going to Europe.

What are your next steps? (next projects?)

I hope to develop my photography more and start shooting more people outside of the blogging world. Photography is something that I really got into because of the blog, and it is something I really love to do. Lots of people have said that I have a natural eye for it. I think the next person I am going to shoot is my friend from college who wants to start up modeling once she graduates. I would love to help her work on her portfolio. I’m thinking of doing some sort of bohemian chic shoot with her in nature. I’m so excited!

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Natalie Suarez. Model and blogger of “Natalie Off Duty”

Where are you from?

Valley area of Los Angeles

What do you do?

I am a model and I also have my own fashion blog called “Natalie Off Duty” where I showcase my personal style as well as what inspires me at the moment.

How’d you get into fashion?

I was signed to model when I was 15 and was still in school. I have been working ever since, and eventually took it on full time for the past 2 years. As a model, I really developed my own personal style. On photoshoots I quickly learned what worked on my body type and what didn’t. From there, I knew what I wanted to wear and how. I always have a ton of fun playing around with pieces in my wardrobe. Blogging has been a perfect way for me to share my love of fashion with the world.

Latest inspiration?

I am currently inspired by bright, bold colors. I look forward to incorporating more color into my wardrobe this spring and mixing prints and patterns. I love the totally effortless, thrown together look.

Favorite stores/brands/companies?

Most of my wardrobe is vintage because I hate looking like anybody else and I love unique, great quality finds. For new basic pieces I love visiting Mango, Zara, Forever 21, and H&M. My favorite designers include Dries Van Noten, Celine, Chloe, Alexander Wang, and Rebecca Taylor.

What else do you enjoy besides fashion?

My other passion is music. I have been singing my entire life and have been playing piano since I was very young. I taught myself to play the guitar one summer when I had too much time on my hands. It’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done. Making music is so relaxing to me.

What are your next steps? (next projects?)

As the new face for Volcom, I am also taking part in the new Volcommunity blog which launches in March. There, I get my own column. It will be completely spontaneous and fun, showing bits and pieces of my life as a model. Volcom has a laidback vibe which I love and such a wonderful team so I’m excited to work on this project! I also just worked with one of my favorite labels from Spain, MANGO. I got to shoot a video for their Que Me Pongo MANGO campaign. I even got to sing, all while showcasing their newest Spring pieces. I am traveling to Spain this month to work on another exciting project with the brand. Also, I am working with Glamour magazine on their online “Slaves to Fashion” column as part of their Young and Posh Blogger Network. There I get to share my style and inspirations with Glamour.com readers. It is one of my favorite magazines so I feel so lucky to be a part of it. With modeling on top of it all, it’s been a crazy busy year so far, but I am enjoying every second of it! Getting to travel and constantly be surrounded by wonderful people and beautiful clothes is definitely the perk of working in fashion!
